The long-awaited recognition has finally come, and all of us who value EFT can celebrate!

As of May, 2012, EFT and the Tapping Methods have been officially accepted by the highly prestigious and influential American Psychological Association (APA) as a valid "Evidence-Based" treatment modality. This historic event ends a 17 year cycle of intense work by EFT researchers to have this modality considered a scientific form of treatment by authorities in the psychological and medical fields. The fact that it was not officially sanctioned by leading authorities in the health field has prevented many a medical center from instituting EFT programs, has discouraged military authorities from seriously considering this intervention, and has prevented many a research grant to researchers who sought to investigate this method.

In 1995, when the original version of EFT was launched by Gary Craig, it soon became known in the healthcare and alternative medicine fields as a highly effective therapeutic modality. However, as some of you may recall, this wonderfully promising method struggled against a serious professional obstacle - the failure to be recognized by the prestigious American psychological Association (APA) as a valid "evidence-based" method - in other words, it was considered "unscientific" by this important organization.

This indicated to the world that the APA did not accept the (then current) research on EFT as being sufficient to warrant its use by psychologists and other psychotherapists. As a result, EFT experienced difficulty being accepted by medical institutions throughout the world and was not seriously considered for the majority of research grants because it did not seem to be a "scientifically validated technique".

Those of you who are psychotherapists or otherwise concerned with licensing or acceptance by official bodies, know what obstacles such a status can present for any treatment method. It has meant that up until now we could not introduce EFT into many by hospitals and medical centers, insurance companies and other important health organizations. Not being recognized officially by APA as having met their evidence-based standards was an extreme handicap - up until now.

The important news is that the American Psychological Association has now decided, based on reevaluation of the present research evidence, to reconsider their position with regard to EFT and has now accepted it as a valid and scientifically proven method of treatment.

This has huge implications for those of us who are psychotherapists, researchers or serious advocates of EFT, and it is largely due to the diligence and careful and persistent research work conducted by Dawson Church, David Feinstein, and the many other dedicated researchers in this field. These diligent people deserve the credit for this new decision on the part of APA.

In a recent issue of his EFT News, Dawson Church described this turn of events in the following words:

"Break out the Champagne!

EFT Meets APA Standards:

"A historic moment has arrived that marks the fruition of an enormous amount of work and persistence by many, many people. The current status of EFT as an "evidence-based" practice is summarized in this statement in the APA (American Psychological Association) journal "Review of General Psychology":

A literature search identified 50 peer-reviewed papers that report or investigate clinical outcomes following the tapping of acupuncture points to address psychological issues. The 17 randomized controlled trials in this sample were critically evaluated for design quality, leading to the conclusion that they consistently demonstrated strong effect sizes and other statistical results that far exceed chance after relatively few treatment sessions. Criteria for evidence-based treatments proposed by Division 12 of the American Psychological Association were also applied and found to be met for a number of conditions, including PTSD.' (Feinstein, in press)."

Dawson Church further comments: "This is sober academic language for a seismic shift in the geography of healing. For the past five years, we've worked incredibly hard, through unbelievable obstacles, to complete the research required to meet APA Division 12 standards. This milestone, published in an APA journal, marks a tipping point in EFTs credibility."

Dawson adds this Thought for the Day at the end of his article: 'Success is sweet: the sweeter if long delayed and attained through manifold struggles and defeats." - A. Branson Alcott

Having been involved in EFT research on many levels myself in the past, and having struggled against the difficulties involved in the delay in its official acceptance, I can only echo Dawson's excitement.

In celebration of this triumph,

Pat Carrington

http://psycnet.apa.org/search/display?i ... 20asc&sr=1

Напротив, според много проучвания, няма ясно доказателство за ефективността на ТЕС, ТАТ и пр.
